Designed to develop the cultural and communicative competence of advanced learners using authentic resources, Literati Lakay comprises 14 chapters grounded in the action-oriented approach. The textbook can be used over two fourteen-week semesters, corresponding to one academic year.

 With Literati Lakay, you will learn Haitian language and culture through a series of classic literary extracts belonging to various types of texts (narrative, explanatory, argumentative, descriptive) and several literary genres (poetry, novel, epistolary form, tales and lodyans) produced by the best Haitian authors and storytellers.

 The content presented in this manual was developed for advanced Haitian Creole courses offered at Florida International University (FIU). Upon completion of the courses using this manual, learners should reach the level of proficient users of Haitian Creole, that is, they will reach level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) scale: A1–A2–B1–B2–C1–C2.
